Questions & Answers
Beginning therapy often comes with questions. Whether you're wondering what to expect, how online sessions work, or whether therapy is the right fit, you'll find answers to some of the most common questions below.
-
Many people reach out to therapy not because they have everything figured out, but because something no longer feels quite right. You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to benefit from therapy. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply looking for a space to better understand yourself, therapy may be a meaningful next step

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know one another. We'll explore what has brought you to therapy, what you're hoping to gain from the process, and answer any questions you may have. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
-
Yes. I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation where we can briefly discuss what you're looking for, answer any questions you may have, and determine whether Kasike Counselling feels like a good fit. The consultation is not a therapy session and there is no obligation to continue afterward.

-
No. Many people seek therapy to better understand themselves, navigate life transitions, strengthen relationships, or manage stress long before any diagnosis is considered. Therapy is about supporting your wellbeing—not simply treating a diagnosis.
-
Confidentiality is one of the foundations of psychotherapy. What you share in therapy remains private except in specific situations where I am legally or ethically required to disclose information, such as when there is an immediate risk of serious harm or where required by law. These limits will be discussed with you before we begin.
-
Many extended health benefit plans include coverage for services provided by Registered Psychotherapists. Coverage varies by provider and individual plan, so I encourage you to contact your insurance company to confirm your benefits before your first appointment.
-
Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments, are generally charged the full session fee unless exceptional circumstances apply.
-
Depending on the age of the youth and the goals of therapy, parents or caregivers may be invited to participate in portions of the process when it supports treatment. This will always be discussed collaboratively while respecting the young person's privacy and clinical needs.
-
Yes. In addition to individual psychotherapy, I provide psychoeducational workshops, facilitated discussions, and speaking engagements for schools, workplaces, community organizations, and faith communities. These educational services are separate from psychotherapy and do not establish a therapist–client relationship.
